Industrial Edge apps enable information technology such as object-oriented programming, databases, data layers and artificial intelligence to be embedded in the control level.

Industrial Edge apps enable innovative applications relating to diagnostics and analysis of large, highly frequent data volumes in the automation and manufacturing environment, such as preventive maintenance. They are provided by partners and by Siemens and can be developed for specific customers based on individual requirements.

The proprietary development of Industrial Edge apps takes place based on Docker technology with programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Node.js.
Due to the use of container technology, developed Industrial Edge apps can be scaled up to the cloud across devices.

In line with the openness concept, Industrial Edge apps can combine any applications, for example web servers, web sockets, databases, complex calculations and more, including open source-based components. Integrated apps, e.g. based on the open source framework Node-Red or Mendix, allow you to get started with local data processing.

There are no additional costs for Industrial Edge applications developed by you in high-level programming languages based on Docker.

Siemens applications are licensed individually and on an annual basis with a software update contract.
